VUCA: Defining and measuring change
Change is something that can be measured and prepared for.
Volatility speaks to the rate of change and the high predictability but also high amount of information that makes decision making hard to discern to one point. Uncertainty is where there is a lot known about a situation but the predictability of action is low and the present situation is unclear. Complexity speaks to multiple key decision factors where a lot of predictability is available, but not much is known about the situation. Ambiguity is the situation where the meaning of the event or events is unclear because there is little known and little that can be predicted. |
